Amazon Prime: The Ultimate hack to save money on amazon
Alright, I know. That’s pretty obvious, but it just needs to be on this list, because there are so many ways, how you can save money with Prime: shipping, movies, tv shows, books, music, cloud storage and – newly – even video games!
Your benefits in Prime membership:
- Free premium shipping (no minimum order)
- Amazon Prime Video: Stream and borrow movies and series
- Prime Music: Smed-down version of Music Unlimited with “only” 2 million Songs
- Early access to time-limited offers (before everything is sold out)
- Amazon Photo: Unlimited storage for your photos in the cloud (Amazon Drive)
- Twitch Prime: The latest shit! Almost like Amazon Prime, just that you can stream video games here instead of movies and tv shows.
Get 1 month of Amazon Prime for free here.If you decide to keep the subscription, you’ll pay $9.92/month if you pay annually, or $12.99 on monthly payment (still less than a book, a season of a TV series, a CD or two shipping costs).
Share Prime Membership
You can also share the shipping cost benefits of Prime membership with other people in your household. Unfortunately, this does not apply to all Prime benefits, but you can log in to the same account, and the problem solves itself. 😉
Unlike other streaming services, Amazon Prime Video doesn’t prevent you from streaming on multiple devices – with the same account – at the same time.
sign up for amazon student & grab all those amazing benefits
As a student, you can try Amazon Prime for free for 6 months – with all the benefits mentioned above!
After a year of trial membership, Amazon Prime for students is still 50% off. ($6.49 / month).

Campaigns & Special Offers
Amazon is the master of sales and time-limited offers. The Cyber Monday week from next Monday is particularly extensive. Already, the countdown to this bid marathon has new discounts of 50% and above every day. The perfect opportunity to shop for Christmas presents. For example, I have already bought an electric guitar and an SD memory card. 🙂
Get coupons sent to you by Amazon
You are interested in a product, but don’t necessarily need it tomorrow? Then put the product in your shopping basket and leave the site without completing the purchase. A few days later, you’ll find an email in your mailbox reminding you of this “forgotten” article. The chance is quite great that a suitable voucher is attached tothis memory.
Don’t buy anything from your smartphone
Market research consistently reveals that people make faster decisions when shopping on their smartphone because they are in a hurry, or because it is simply too complicated to make detailed price comparisons on their smartphone. That’s why mobile phone users often see more expensive prices. So check out the price from your laptop before you strike.
By the way, the same effect can also occur on different devices orbrowsers. For example, there are repeated rumors that Apple users tend to have to pay more expensive prices. The latest versions of MacOS, iOS and Safari are optimized to prevent this procedure, but a comparison can still be worthwhile, especially with expensive products.
GET A free audiobook
Audible is also part of Amazon. In my article on audiobooks How I’ve read 20 books in the last 2 months – although I haven’t had time, I‘ve written about the fact that the principle of Audible doesn’t fully open up to me, and I still see it that way.
But if you test Audible for free for a month, you get two audiobooks for free. And you can certainly take that with you. Just don’t forget to cancel in time again. I like to do this in such situations immediately after registering, because I don’t forget it and the subscription usually ends only after one month.

Save Money on Amazon With Warehouse Deals
Under the Warehouse deals section, Amazon sells returned items at heavily discounted prices. Much more than the packaging, however, is not damaged. Even book price fixing is lifted by the sale as a “second-hand” commodity.
Stream music
At Amazon, there are two different ways to stream music:
Prime Music: Behind the name Prime Music lies a “slimmed-down” version of Music Unlimited with “only” 2 million. Songs. Prime Music membership is included in every Amazon Prime subscription (and Amazon Student).
Music Unlimited:
Unlimited is Amazon’s actual music streaming service. Prices are exactly the same as with Spotify, arguably the best-known provider in this area, that is: $9.99 / month, for students $4.99 / month.
Until now, I had assumed-for whatever reason-that Spotify must surely have a much larger range of music. But according to this comparison Amazon Music Unlimited vs. Spotify shows, there are 50 million songs at Unlimited, but “only” 30 million at Spotify. Music Unlimited also performs better in other areas, such as design and clarity. A real alternative!
Of course, there is also a free trial for a month!
Right now, there’s also an offer of getting Amazon Music Unlimited for three months for only $0.99!
Read books for free!
That, in my opinion-logically-is the best option ever. Kindle Unlimited gives you a subscription to Kindle books. That means for $9.99/month, you can read as many Kindle books as you can in a month.
The most common criticism of this program is the meagre title selection. Admittedly, the offer isn’t exactly overwhelming, but still there are plenty ofcrime thrillers, romance novels, nonfiction and – best of all – Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone!
Observe the Price Trend to Save a Bunch of Money
Here’s another real insider tip: On the camelcamelcamel.com page, you can watch the price evolution of products on Amazon. If you want to buy something, you can even set up a price reduction alarm that will let you know via email or Twitter if the price of this product drops below a level you set.
Here I have tried the whole thing with the example of the 10th Season of The Big Bang Theory (in German):
Now, for example, I could set up an alarm that will come forward when the price drops back below €15. Isn’t that great? 🙂
Subscribe & SAve on Your favorite Products
Are there any products, that you buy again and again on Amazon? Think of cleaning supplies, dog food, diapers and toothpaste.
Why not subscribe to those products and save up to 15% on each purchase?
Here’s how it works:
- Choose the products you need regularly from the eligible products.
- Select the quantity: How often do you need them?
- Set a schedule: When do you need them? (e.g. the 1st of every month)
- Place your order and save! 🙂
- Change, skip or cancel deliveries, whenever you need to. To do this, just head over to the “Manage Your Subscriptions” section in your Amazon account.
As a prime member, you can save up to 20%, whenever you order five or more items per auto-delivery.
You can try Amazon Prime free for 30 Days, or 6 free months, when you’re a student.

This is, why they offer different deals every single day, where you can safe 70% or more.
Keep a running list of stuff you need or want to buy. Then check the daily deals section, whenever you visit Amazon and search for those products to save a bunch of money.
